KOZHIKODE: Amid concerns over Nipah outbreak in Kerala, one more case of infection has been confirmed in Kerala‘s Kozhikode district.
A 39-year-old man has been confirmed with the Nipah virus after his samples turned positive, said Kerala health minister Veena George’s office on Friday.
He was under observation in a hospital. He had sought treatment at a private hospital where Nipah-positive affected were treated for other ailments earlier, it said in a statement.The total number of Nipah cases has gone up to six in Kozhikode.
Meanwhile, a five-member central team, led by Dr Mala Chhabra, microbiologist at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia(RML) hospital and comprising multi-disciplinary experts, arrived in the district on Thursday to take stock of the
Nipah situation and to assist the state in management of the outbreak.

It will visit Maruthonkara and Ayanchary panchayats, from where the cases were reported.
Vigil has been enhanced in the neighbouring Malappuram district as well after a 60- year-old woman with suspected Nipah symptoms was admitted to Manjeri medical college on Wednesday.
