RAIPUR: Barely two months ahead of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh has decided to organize two Parivartan Yatras from September 12 and September 16 respectively in the state, covering 87 assembly constituencies and 2989km distance.
The first Parivartan Yatra, which will last for 16 days, will be flagged off by Union home minister Amit Shah at Maa Danteshwari Temple in Dantewada district on September 12 during a massive public rally. The 16-day Yatra will cover 1728 km distance of 21 districts.
Similarly, BJP national president J P Nadda will flag off the second Parivartan Yatra, which will last for 12 days, at Jashpur’s Maa Khudiya Rani Mandir in a public rally on September 16. This Yatra will cover 1261 km distance. Both the Yatras will culminate at Bilaspur on the same day after covering a total of 2,989 kilometers and 87 assembly constituencies, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address a massive public rally on the occasion.
Even though Maoist-hit Bijapur, Sukma, and Antagarh constituencies are not included in the yatra, BJP state president Arun Sao said that the participation of these constituencies will be ensured.
“With a commitment to change, the BJP is going to organize ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in the state,” Sao said on Tuesday. The coordinators for the yatra commencing from September 12 are MLA Shivratan Sharma and former minister Mahesh Gagda.
The second yatra will commence from Jashpur on September 16 and will be led by coordinator Motilal Sahu. The party has decided that all state leaders will participate in the yatra for two days each. During the first yatra, BJP State President Sao will be present, while during the second yatra, opposition leader Narayan Chandel will be present.
During the yatras, 84 public meetings and 85 welcome meetings will be organized. The BJP will release the road map for the yatras soon.
