LUCKNOW: A couple was allegedly beaten to death with iron rods and sticks by their neighbors in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur on Friday.
The victims, identified as Abbas and his wife Kamrul Nisha, died on the spot after the attack which took place in Hargaon police station area of the district.
Police claimed that prima facie the murder was a fallout of an alleged affair between the victims’ son and the daughter of one of the accused.
The three accused, identified as Shailendra Jaiswal, Pallu Jaiswal and Amarnath Jaiswal, have been arrested while two are still elusive.
Superintendent of Police, Sitapur, Chakresh Mishra said a few years ago, Abbas’s son had eloped with a girl from the neighbouring household. A case was registered in this regard and Abbas’s son was sent to jail.
According to the villagers, the son of the deceased couple, Shaukat, and Rampal’s daughter, Ruby, had an affair. Shaukat had allegedly abducted Ruby in the year 2020. At that time, she was a minor. After registering a case in this regard, police sent Shaukat to jail. He again abducted and married her in June,” the SP added.
“When Abbas’s son was released from jail a few days ago, some members of the family planned the attack on the couple,” police said.
